8 March: UNAMA: Afghan women and girls are being excluded from society

Bayan News

The delegation of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Kabul (UNAMA) on International Women’s Day issued a statement expressing concern that Afghan women and girls are being excluded from society.

The statement issued on Wednesday (March 8) said that on International Women’s Day, as every other day, aid agencies in Afghanistan stand with women and girls to ensure they live their desired lives.

“Afghan women and girls are being excluded from society,” the statement said. “Today we are focusing on their resistance and struggle against oppression.”

March 8th comes just as Afghan girls and women have been completely denied access to their rights, including education and work.

After the restrictions imposed by the acting government, hundreds of Afghan national figures, international organizations and the international community in general opposed these restrictions and demanded women’s access to their basic rights.
