Otunbayeva: A faction of the Taliban understands that the real needs of the people should be taken into account

Rosa Otunbayeva, the special representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Afghanistan, in a statement, referring to the internal differences of the caretaker government in Kabul, says that a faction within the government understands that the real needs of the people should be taken into account.

The special representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations made these statements in the meeting of the Security Council of this organization and said that a faction within the leadership of the current government does not agree with the current position and direction.

He added: “I believe that there is a faction within the Taliban leadership and throughout the movement that does not agree with the current position taken by the government leadership. This faction understands that the real needs of the people should be taken into account.

However, Otunbayeva said in a statement on Wednesday (Friday 17) on the International Women’s Solidarity Day that Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban is the most repressive country in the world when it comes to women’s rights.
