10 local journalists injured in explosive attack on journalists gathering in Balkh province

Local sources in Balkh province said that 30 people were killed and wounded in an explosive attack on Saturday morning in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, and 10 journalists were injured.

According to the sources, about 20 journalists were present at the time of the blast and that they were attacked when the Tebyan Cultural Center had launched a program to honor journalists.

Local journalists from Safir TV, Arezoo TV, Pajhwok News Agency, Shamshad TV and TOLOnews were injured in the incident.

So far, no information has been reported on the deterioration of the situationand the Taliban’s security forces are not allowing anyone to cover it.

Arezoo TV staff, TOLOnews and the ambassador confirmed that their colleagues were injured in the incident.

According to preliminary statistics, a total of three people have died and 30 others have been injured.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

This comes after the Tebyan Cultural Center, headed by Sayed Isaiah Hussaini Mazari, was also attacked in Kabul several years ago and claimed responsibility by Daesh.
