Bayan news

Roza Otenbayeva, head of the United Nations Office in Kabul (UNAMA), says that the caretaker government of Kabul wants to be recognized by the members of the Security Council of this organization.

On Wednesday evening (June 21), UNAMA published a statement quoting Otenbayeva and said: “The Taliban want the members of the United Nations to recognize them, but at the same time they are acting against the basic values of the United Nations Charter.”

Otunbayeva also asked the caretaker government of Kabul to cancel the recent bans that prevent Afghan women from working in the United Nations, so that the organization can continue to provide services to the people of Afghanistan with full support.

According to published reports, the caretaker government of Kabul has issued about 50 restrictive decrees against Afghan women and girls in more than a year.

These decrees prohibit women and girls from working in domestic and international offices, teaching and learning.
