“Estankzai Hopes for the Reopening of Schools and Universities to Girls”

Bayan News – Shir Mohammad Abbas Estankzai, a political appointee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he hopes that the gates of schools and universities in Afghanistan will be opened to all Afghan people without discrimination, as it is their legal and religious right.

He made these remarks on Friday, July 28th, during a ceremony commemorating the tenth day of Muharram, the day of Ashura. He attended the ceremony at one of the Husseiniyas in western Kabul to pay his respects.

“Schools and universities should be opened to all Afghan people without discrimination, as it is their legal, religious and natural right,” said Estankzai.

Meanwhile, Moein Siasi, another political appointee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, added that there are differences among the people regarding the reopening of schools and universities. “If we go to the outskirts of the provinces and see a village, we will find that if there are five people in favor of schools, there will be two people against it. This difference exists among both Sunnis and Shiites,” he said.

According to Estankzai, there are different attitudes towards schools and universities, and people cannot be forced to accept them through force and coercion. People must be convinced through reason and logic to understand the importance of education, and then conditions should be created for the gates of schools and universities to be opened to everyone.
