Aftershocks in Herat Cause Loss of Life and Property Damage

Bayan News – The press office of the Governor of Herat has stated in a newsletter that following the aftershocks in this province, approximately 15 people have lost their lives and several others have been injured.

Around 11:00 AM today, Saturday (October 7th), a powerful earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale shook parts of Herat province, with its epicenter located in the Zinda Jan district of the province.

The spokesperson for the Governor of Herat added that there is a possibility of increasing casualties.

According to published reports, it is said that this earthquake had six aftershocks, and the damages incurred were a result of these aftershocks.

Moreover, this earthquake also impacted the provinces of Farah and Badghis, causing damages.

The Ministry of State for Natural Disasters stated that some houses in these provinces have been destroyed, and provincial teams have been dispatched to the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization’s office in Afghanistan has announced the delivery of medicines and medical supplies to several hospitals in Herat for the treatment of earthquake-related injuries.

The World Health Organization in Afghanistan also wrote on the X network that they are ready to send additional aid.
