UNICEF to Establish 950 Education Classes for Children in Afghanistan
Bayan News – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced the establishment of 950 education classes for children in Afghanistan.
In a statement on Thursday (17th January), the organization stated that the creation of these classes will provide access to education for at least 150,000 children.
UNICEF stated that these educational classes provide a space for learning, inspiration, and building a future.
Over the past two years, UNICEF has established hundreds of educational classes in various provinces and districts of Afghanistan, particularly in the face of restrictions on girls’ education.
Currently, the Taliban has banned education for girls beyond the sixth grade, and despite national and international pressure, they have not yielded to these demands.
