Taliban Ministry of Agriculture Discusses Effective Use of Land Surrounding the “Qush Tepa” Canal

Bayan News – The Taliban Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock states that it has discussed the effective use of land surrounding the “Qush Tepa” canal in a joint meeting with experts from the ministry and relevant departments.

According to a newsletter released by the ministry on Sunday, January 27, this joint meeting was held under the supervision of Prime Minister Osmani, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.

The ministry reports that the joint meeting involved discussions on the categorization of agricultural lands, small irrigation canals, protected areas, and the operational plan.

It is said that the Qush Tepa canal is the largest water transfer project in northern Afghanistan, with a capacity to transfer 10 billion cubic meters of water from the Amu River, which is located on the border.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that upon the completion of this canal, 550,000 hectares of agricultural land in Balkh, Jowzjan, and Faryab provinces will be irrigated.
