US State Department to Host Meeting on Women’s Economic Empowerment in Afghanistan
Bayan News – The US State Department has announced that it will host a meeting in collaboration with Boston University titled “Economic Resilience of Afghan Women.”
According to the statement from Boston University, the meeting will take place next week on Tuesday (February 27th) at the headquarters of the US State Department.
The university’s statement reads: “Participants will explore collaborations and innovative initiatives aimed at empowering Afghan women in the face of challenges resulting from discriminatory policies.”
According to Boston University, the roundtable discussion will focus on various aspects of supporting women and girls in Afghanistan, particularly in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
The university’s statement further commits to the Afghan Women’s Economic Resilience Program as a valuable network for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and highlighting opportunities for comprehensive collaboration in advancing the economic resilience of Afghan women and girls.
In this meeting, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Reena Amiri, the US Special Representative for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan, will deliver speeches.
It is worth mentioning that the Afghan Women’s Economic Resilience Program was launched two years ago by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to strengthen economic rights and empower women in Afghanistan.
