Washington’s Concern over Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Conflicts

Bayan News – The United States Department of State has called on the interim Taliban government and the new government of Pakistan to prevent civilian casualties.

Dwante Patel, Deputy Spokesperson for the Department, expressed the concern of the United States Department of State over civilian casualties in the confrontations between Afghanistan and Pakistan near the hypothetical line in a press briefing on Tuesday night (March 18).

He specifically urged Pakistan not to target civilians during counterterrorism operations.

The US Department of State also addressed the interim Taliban government, stating that they must ensure that terrorist attacks in Pakistan are not organized from Afghan soil.

The US Department of State emphasized that Afghanistan and Pakistan should identify their issues and seek joint solutions.

Early yesterday morning, Pakistani military jets carried out airstrikes in areas of the provinces of Khost and Paktika, which prompted a strong reaction from the Afghan Taliban and resulted in border clashes.

It is reported that members of a family, including women and children, were killed in these airstrikes.
