Kabulov: Future Doha Meeting Will Not Yield Results Without Taliban Agreement
Bayan News – Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, has held meetings with senior Taliban officials, including Amir Khan Muttaqi and Sirajuddin Haqqani, during his visit to Kabul.
Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan stated during his meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi on Tuesday (April 23) that any future meetings hosted by the United Nations must have the agreement of the Taliban.
According to Kabulov, future meetings in Qatar without the presence of Taliban representatives will not yield results.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoting Kabulov, stated in a newsletter, “Any meeting held regarding Afghanistan must be conducted with the agreement of the Taliban.”
Kabulov continues to demand the release of Afghanistan’s frozen assets.
Amir Khan Muttaqi described the Kabul-Moscow relations as important during this meeting and emphasized that Taliban embassies are operational in almost all countries in the region.
Meanwhile, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan also had a meeting with the Taliban’s Minister of Interior.
During this meeting, discussions and conversations were held regarding the political and security issues related to Afghanistan-Russia relations.
However, the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has not released further details about this meeting.
