OCHA: 12.3 Million Children in Afghanistan Need Humanitarian Assistance

Bayan News – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) states that over 12 million children in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance this year.

The UN agency released its two-month report last night (April 27) on the human rights situation in Afghanistan and the country’s needs.

According to the report, the total number of people in need in Afghanistan this year reaches 23.7 million, with 12.3 million of them being children who require humanitarian support.

According to the report, OCHA requires $1.7 billion to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, of which 35% of this budget has been provided by donor countries so far.

OCHA stated in its report that Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, and UNICEF have provided the most assistance to children thus far.
