The European Union provides 10 million euros to support food security for Afghan children
Bayan News – The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced a 10 million euro contribution from the European Union to support food security for children in Afghanistan.
The programme said in a statement on Wednesday (May 29) that this assistance will reach students in more than 10,000 schools across the provinces of Farah, Ghor, Jowzjan, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Paktika, Uruzgan and Zabul.
The agency added that thanks to the additional financial support from the European Union, fortified biscuits or locally produced nutritious food items will be distributed among students of 10,000 schools.
According to the statement, female students in grades 4 and 6 will also receive assistance such as vegetable oil and cash.
This assistance comes as recent reports indicate that three out of every 10 children in Afghanistan are suffering from food insecurity.
