Two cases of “Mpox” virus reported in Kabul and Paktia

Bayan News – Afghan media outlets have reported that two cases of the “Mpox” virus have been recorded in Kabul and Paktia.

According to reports published on Tuesday (August 27), sources from Afghan hospitals have said that two cases of Mpox or “monkeypox” disease have been registered in these two provinces.

According to the sources, the individuals infected with Mpox are residents of Farza district of Kabul and Paktia province, who are under treatment at the children’s hospital.

The Taliban authorities have not yet reacted to this disease.

On the other hand, according to published reports, scientists and health experts have confirmed that concerns about the spread of Mpox infection are justified, but its treatment has not yet been determined.

Dr. Hans Kluge, the Director of the World Health Organization’s European region, added: “Mpox is not a new Covid. The risk to the general population is low, we know how to control Mpox. In the European region, there is sufficient awareness of the necessary steps to stop the transmission cycle.”

However, the monkeypox disease has spread in most African countries and has raised global concerns.
