Taliban Ministry of Defense: No discussions have taken place regarding the purchase of weapons from Russia
Bayan News – Enayatullah Kharazmi, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, rejected the recent statements of a Taliban official on Friday evening (August 30), stating that no discussions have occurred regarding anti-aircraft weapons from Russia.
Kharazmi wrote on the X platform that the statements made by the head of logistics for the Ministry of Defense have been distorted.
Recently, Abdulbasir Sabri, head of logistics for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, stated in an interview with the Russian news agency TASS: “We need air defense and space control equipment; we have ground equipment.”
This official from the Taliban Ministry of Defense also mentioned: “In the future, we intend to purchase Russian-made equipment that will enable us to establish air defense.”
The Taliban forces are currently equipped with weapons left over from the former Afghan army. These include American and Russian equipment.
