Middle East Tensions: China Launches Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Towards the Pacific Ocean
Bayan News – Chinese state media have reported that the country’s military successfully tested an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) during its military exercises.
According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Defense, as reported by the state news agency Xinhua, the missile, carrying a mock warhead, was launched into space at 8:44 AM on Wednesday (September 25), Beijing time, and landed in a designated area in the open waters of the Pacific Ocean.
China’s Ministry of Defense stated that the launch, conducted by the People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force, was part of its routine annual training and was not aimed at any specific country or target.
CNN described this public ICBM test by China as “rare” and noted that China showcased this test amid rising tensions with the United States and its regional allies.
According to the report, this is the first time in more than four decades that China has publicly announced an ICBM test in the Pacific Ocean.
