19 People, Including Three Afghan Citizens, Killed in Armed Attack in Balochistan
Bayan News – An armed attack on a coal mine in Balochistan, Pakistan, resulted in the death of 19 people, including three Afghan citizens.
According to Pakistani media, the armed assault took place in the early hours of Friday, October 11.
Published reports indicate that the assailants targeted coal mine workers using hand grenades and rockets. It is also reported that seven miners were injured in the attack, and the attackers set fire to all the machinery at the mine.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army have previously claimed similar attacks.
Reports further show that since the beginning of this year, 1,534 people have died in security-related incidents in Pakistan, compared to 1,523 deaths in 2023.
The report adds that 97% of these incidents have occurred in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan regions.
