U.S. Representatives Criticize Visa Issuance for Taliban Supporter YouTuber
Bayan News – Several members of the U.S. House of Representatives have strongly criticized the issuance of a humanitarian visa by their country to a YouTuber who supports the Taliban.
According to U.S. media reports, Tim Burchett, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, expressing his concern over how a YouTuber who supports the Taliban was granted a visa and entered the U.S.
This member of Congress stated, “Imran Rahimi, whose YouTube channel is filled with videos of his travels and meetings with Taliban officials, was granted a visa in September at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, and entered the U.S. via Turkey.”
According to Burchett, “Imran Rahimi, whose YouTube channel is filled with videos of his travels and meetings with Taliban officials, was granted a visa in September at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, and came to the United States via Turkey.”
In his letter, Burchett claimed that “this YouTuber had access to areas under Taliban and Haqqani Network control, including terrorist training camps and the residences of senior officials of the former government, which are now accessible to the Taliban.”
Burchett’s letter to Blinken came one day after the FBI announced the arrest of an Afghan national suspected of planning a terrorist attack during the U.S. elections.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that the FBI had arrested an Afghan man who was planning a terrorist attack on Election Day.
