Local TV stations in Takhar province shut down their activities

Bayan News – The Afghanistan Journalists’ Center has reported the suspension of local TV stations in Afghanistan due to the ban on broadcasting images of living beings.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 14, the center added that the national TV and two local TV stations have stopped their broadcasts for the past two days.

According to the center, Habibullah Hanafi, head of the Taliban’s Promotion of Virtue in Takhar province, emphasized in a meeting with local media representatives and some journalists that the order to ban broadcasting images of living beings must be enforced.

Some media outlets have also reported that following this order, the private TV stations “Mah Noor” and “Reyhan” have decided not to air images of living beings.

At the same time, another source said that the Taliban delegation sent to Takhar stated that the ban on broadcasting images will initially be implemented in the provinces of Kandahar, Helmand, and Takhar.

The source added that the ban will gradually be applied in other provinces as well.
