The Interim Government Bans Music Broadcasting on Media in Kabul
Bayan News – The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue of the interim government has instructed media outlets in Kabul to refrain from broadcasting or airing any music.
On Thursday, December 12, the Ministry announced that this directive had been communicated by officials during meetings with media representatives in Kabul.
A statement from the Ministry reads: “Supervisors from the Urban Directorate of Kabul, during reformative meetings with some officials of print and audio media, requested them to avoid broadcasting music and any content that contradicts Islamic principles and Afghan culture.”
This is not the first time the interim government has banned the broadcasting of music through Afghan media. Previously, similar restrictions were implemented across most provinces in Afghanistan.
Moreover, following the enactment of a new law, the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue also prohibited Afghan media from showing images of living beings in television programs.
