Three-Year Prison Sentence for Human Traffickers
Bayan News – A new directive issued to the military courts of the interim government mandates sentences of one to three years of imprisonment for human traffickers.
The text of this directive, published on Saturday, December 21, by Bakhtar News Agency, stipulates that military courts should impose a one-year prison term for the first offense, two years for the second offense, and three years for the third offense committed by human traffickers.
Part of this directive, which pertains to the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the interim government, orders that arrested human traffickers be referred to military courts for sentencing.
Additionally, the ministry is tasked with pursuing and apprehending traffickers who encourage and send people, especially young individuals, through illegal and dangerous routes out of the country. It is also instructed to shut down facilities used for human trafficking.
According to this directive, the Ministry of Defense is obligated to prevent human trafficking along borders and in border areas.
It is worth noting that human trafficking has been a longstanding challenge in Afghanistan.
Three years ago, following the fall of Kabul, many people migrated to Iran and Pakistan through illegal routes with the encouragement of human traffickers.
