The short film “Letter to My Sister” by two Afghan teenagers wins second place at the international “Plural” festival

Bayan News – The international “Plural” festival announced that the short film “Letter to My Sister”, created by an Afghan brother and sister, has secured second place in the festival.

The festival stated that the short film by these two Afghan teenagers portrays the profound consequences of depriving girls of education.

According to the festival’s organizers, the short film was created by Erfan and Helen Ahmadi, an Afghan brother and sister, who participated in the festival’s 13-17 age group category.

The festival added: “It highlights the deep impact of gender discrimination in Afghanistan, not only on girls but also on families, many of whom are forced to migrate.”

The festival’s statement noted that the ban on education has led to increased depression among Afghan girls and forced them to take on responsibilities beyond their age, issues that the film also addresses.

It is worth mentioning that the Plural Youth Short Film Festival is organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).

Reports indicate that this festival focuses on topics such as migration, cultural diversity, gender equality, and children’s rights.
