OCHA expresses concern over the lack of shelter in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations in Afghanistan (OCHA) has recently expressed concern about the shortage of shelter for people in the country.

In a message posted on platform X on Monday (September 9), the organization added that one-third of families in Afghanistan do not have adequate shelter for living.

According to OCHA, $227 million is needed to address the shelter challenge in Afghanistan; however, the organization has received only $14.6 million in funding so far.

OCHA also stated that 1.7 million people in Afghanistan are in need of emergency shelter.
