More than 50,000 people in Afghanistan have been affected by tuberculosis in one year
Bayan News – The Taliban Ministry of Health has provided statistics indicating that over 50,000 individuals, including women and children, have been diagnosed with tuberculosis in the Gregorian year 2023.
Sharaf Zaman Khail, spokesperson for the ministry, added that the number of tuberculosis cases has decreased by approximately five percent compared to the previous year.
According to the Taliban Ministry of Health spokesperson, there are currently over 850 health centers throughout Afghanistan that provide services to tuberculosis patients.
However, other independent health sources related to non-governmental organizations have not released information regarding tuberculosis statistics in Afghanistan.
Over the past two years, with the reduction in international aid to Afghanistan, most health centers in the country have been affected and have been unable to provide healthcare services.
