Women Protesters: The Absence of Women at the Doha Meeting Violates the UN Security Council Resolution

Bayan News – A group of protesting women under the title “Women’s Network for Equality” have written to the UN Secretary-General, stating that the lack of women representatives at the Doha meeting violates the UN Security Council resolution.

The Women’s Network for Equality wrote to Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, on the eve of the third round of the Doha meeting, expressing their opposition to this meeting.

According to these protesting women, the absence of women at the Doha meeting is contrary to UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security.

Hazara female politicians, human rights activists, former parliamentarians, civil society activists and journalists are members of this network.

The Doha meeting is scheduled to be held on June 30th of the current month.

While the meeting has invited representatives of the Taliban, civil society activists and women representatives have not been invited.
