Hamas says there has been no progress in negotiations with Israel
Bayan News – Osama Hamdan, one of the senior members of the Hamas group, says that there has been no progress whatsoever in the negotiations with Israel to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.
This Hamas leadership member said in a press conference on Saturday (June 29) that the group is ready to positively respond to any ceasefire proposal that would end the fighting.
According to Hamdan, Hamas is prepared for a permanent ceasefire, a comprehensive Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and a serious prisoner exchange deal.
The mediation efforts by Arab mediators with US support have so far failed to broker a ceasefire, and Israel and Hamas blame each other for the deadlock.
Hamas says any agreement must end the fighting and see Israel withdraw from Gaza, while Israel says it will only accept temporary pauses in the fighting.
The Gaza health ministry has announced that the Israeli attack has so far left nearly 38,000 casualties. Officials say that most of the killed are civilians.
